Brianna Rhodes | Film composer, violinist
Brianna Rhodes is a Los Angeles-based composer and violinist specializing in music for media. Her eclectic style is shaped by her orchestral background and captivation with moody world-building.
Before moving to Los Angeles in 2019, Brianna studied composition at Florida State University with Clifton Callender and Mark Wingate. She completed her Bachelor's degree in violin performance under the instruction of Benjamin Sung, and has held contracts with 10 orchestras across the US. Brianna first explored film scoring in 2011, when she re-scored the bizarre 1912 film "The Cameraman's Revenge" for a local competition. She went on to score 12 short films with the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts.
Brianna has worked for Harry Gregson-Williams’ studio, Wavecrest Music, on numerous projects (Mulan, Manhunt: Deadly Games, Infinite, The Last Duel, and Polar Bear). Brianna completed an internship with composer Joseph Trapanese, assisting with The Witcher (Season 2) and 8-bit Christmas. She was selected as one of five composer mentees for the Society of Composers and Lyricists' 2019 - 2020 LA Mentor Program.
In 2021, Brianna scored two seasons of the adorable animated web-series Hello Cozmo. She is also the composer for the indie pilot Macy Ray and the Legend of Dead River, which is currently screening in festivals across the United States. Recently, Brianna won Best Musical Score at Helix Collective’s 2022 LA Live Score Film Festival for the horror short “Madeleine.”
Brianna had the unique opportunity to work on American Horror Story Season 10: Red Tide as violin coach to lead actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Armstrong’s character, a child prodigy violinist, performed advanced showpieces such as Paganini’s 24 Caprices and the Bach Chaconne. Brianna worked with Armstrong over the course of 6 months, training her through private lessons, creating custom musical arrangements, consulting on set, and working with a hand double to create the onscreen illusion of virtuosity.
Brianna has recorded violin for film and pop artists, including rapper Dominic Fike (Politics & Violence, Rollerblades, and Acai Bowl). She co-arranged and performed several of Fike’s songs for “PYROPHYTE”, designer Reese Cooper’s runway show for Paris Fashion Week 2021.
Brianna is currently writing and performing in Los Angeles with the help of her two studio cats, Tiberius and Soria. She enjoys dark humor, sci-fi, psychological thrillers, and all things cute and heartwarming.
